CLINTON DOUBLES-DOWN ON ‘FISHY’ STORY THAT SHE TRIED TO JOIN MARINES

TheLid: As of Wednesday afternoon, Politico stands by its story that Ben Carson’s claim he was offered a full scholarship to West Point was a fabrication.  Carson says Politico’s story is a lie and an example of how the mainstream media “vets” Republican candidates differently than they do Democrats. Politico claims that their story needed some clarification, but that it was basically sound.

Yesterday we asked if a claim about being granted a scholarship to West Point made by Ben Carson in a book published in 1990 is important and timely enough for Politico to question 25 years later, why don’t they investigate a 1994 Hillary Clinton claim that she tried to join the Marines? That claim is only 21 years in the past.

Adding to that story, we now learn that on the stump in New Hampshire this week,  Hillary doubled down on the claim that she tried to join the Marines. CNN investigated the claim and isn’t very sure Ms. Clinton’s claim is true.  MORE HERE

  1. Barb Mickelson – “Snopes” – is a leftist apparatchik. Most of her content is very good, so her outright fabrications and omissions tend to gain unwarranted credibility by association.

  2. Interesting to me that the story now is about the reporting entity rather than Killary herself. And it seems she has a verifiable history of “almost famous” little fabrications that intended to give her persona a boost among the military. The story about taking enemy fire (as a soldier so often does), now the story about trying to join the Marines (as though “trying to join” is somehow the same thing as doing so.) Neither of these examples are stolen valor per se, but they sure smack of it and it says a lot about her lack of character — and that’s all we need to know about her.

  3. She always talks about fightin’ or struggin’ for this and that, so she must think of all her pelf as well-deserved combat pay. Maybe she should get all of her medical care at the VA.

  4. There are thousands of “wanna-bes” and “could have been” out there.

hillary wants the prestige and honor of being thought of as a Woman Marine without ever attempting or being one.

hillary doesn’t display one characteristic of any Woman Marine I’ve ever met, particularly integrity and honor.

Pretty close to being “Stolen Valor” in my book.

  5. I believe that anyone that walks in to a recruiting office has their details written down and preserved as “official contacts.”
Someone, somewhere would have that info available if this event did occur.

A good journalist could solve this ridiculous claim with a few phone calls to the alleged recruiter.

  6. That’s a lot disgusting. I could have gone my entire life not knowing about this.

“They were practically begging me to enlist, but I always knew I was meant for something more meaningful.”

Bower, a 31-year old assistant manager at a successful pizza delivery franchise…

Um, yeah. Assistant manager at a pizza joint. That’s real meaningful, alright. So glad he never wore a uniform.
