Federal Judge Tosses Gulf of Mexico Oil Leases for Failing to Account for “Greenhouse Gas Emissions”

whec

A federal court has rejected a plan to lease millions of acres in the Gulf of Mexico for offshore oil drilling, saying the Biden administration did not adequately take into account the lease sale’s effect on planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions, violating a bedrock environmental law.

The decision Thursday by U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras in Washington sends the proposed lease sale back to the Interior Department to decide next steps. The judge said it was up to Interior to decide whether to go forward with the sale after a revised review, scrap it or take other steps. More

According to Wikipedia, Contreras was appointed by Obama.

  1. @Wild Bill – there is definitely in fact a Climate Crisis.
The Climate Crisis is that Al Gore, the Clintons, John Kerry et al have not become rich enough yet.
Of course there never is a rich enough.
Polar Bears? Yeah, how many are there now? More??? But they’re such a great poster child for money-making when they are dying off! Can we make them fewer somehow?

  2. Does this judge ask the Rubber Dildo Industry if they have accounted for their Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Or is that exempt?

How about the recent Face Diaper Industry?

  3. From the article: “Emissions from burning and extracting fossil fuels from public lands and waters account for about a quarter of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.”
… the other 3/4ths of the CO2 coming from opening a beer or a soft drink; but, of course the BLM advisors took that into consideration. Sure, they did.
