Martha McSally is Worse Than Jeff Flake

Townhall: Arizona’s Republican U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake has announced he’s not running for reelection, so several candidates have jumped into the open race to replace him. There are currently three frontrunners. GOP Rep. Martha McSally, a combat pilot who served in the U.S. Air Force, former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and former Arizona State Senator Kelli Ward. Ward made a name for herself launching an unsuccessful conservative challenge to Sen. John McCain in 2016.

McSally is the darling of the GOP establishment. She was elected to Congress in 2014, representing a swing district seat formerly held by Gabrielle Giffords. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell recruited McSally last year as one of several moderates to run for the Senate. “We are going to be supporting people who can actually win,” he said in his year-end news conference critical of conservative candidates. “But we have got some great candidates out there and you’re familiar with them, Martha McSally …” His Senate Leadership Fund super PAC intends to spend considerable money supporting her run.

McSally is a member of the Republican Main Street Partnership, a group of moderate Republicans in Congress. McCain is also a member. Her voting record is less conservative than both Flake and McCain. The Heritage Foundation rated her 61 percent this session. They rated Flake 88 percent and McCain 66 percent. The American Conservative Union gives her a lifetime rating of 66 percent. Flake has a lifetime rating of 93 percent and McCain has 81 percent. FreedomWorks gave her a lifetime score of 60 percent. It rated Flake 93 percent and McCain 69 percent. Mark Levin’s Conservative Review gives all three of them an F.

McSally did not endorse President Trump in the 2016 presidential election. She supports DACA. In 2015, she voted against an amendment to a spending bill that would have ended DACA. In 2017… Keep reading

  1. McCONnell leading the GOP to progressive governance by supporting country club, liberal, establishment republicans.

    To hell with the Country, McCONnel wants to keep his leadership position and power in the Senate and continue his obstruction of the American (Trump) Agenda for the future.

  2. Exemplifies exactly why it is impossible to really drain the swamp. You have to be part of the establishment to win. And there just aren’t many conservative people interested in signing up to be attacked daily by the MSM, dems and their own party.

  3. Page O Turner, I’d love to know, because right next door in Nevada, the same crap is going on. Harry Reid is only gone because HE wanted to retire. Maybe McSally and McCain’s families have tentacles (family members)throughout state and local governments like Reid does.

  4. Then someone needs to convince the Arpaio to get out of the race and swing what support he actually has behind Ward. Then Ward needs to run ads showing McSally voting against stopping DACA and any of the other votes she stepped away from Conservatism on (15 secs per ad would do). Ward has to be reasonably nice until McSally went dark then go tit for tat. Ward has the higher profile then McSally and she needs to use it. The vital thing though is to get Arpaio out of the race. He’s a good man but his ego is driving him into a job his body can’t do.

  5. California RINOs have invaded Arizona.
    Why are so many military officers leftists?
    Oh, ya. She’s Air Force and a woman who probably was given special treatment.
    Excuse the cynicism, after what I saw my son go through in the Navy, I have lost a lot of respect for these officers who are officers simply because they went to college and for women and minorities (one who threatened to kill my son for giving him an order and was simply transferred and not put in the brig) who are given special treatment.
    The NCO’s are the ones who deserve the respect.

  6. Solution::
    McCain die or retire already. Governor appoints real conservative republican.
    Flake flakes off by actually resigning. Governor does as above.
    Two conservative appointed senators.
    Sheriff Joe: : Hang it up already. You had a greater run as sheriff. 85 is too freakin’ old to run for a six year term.
