AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB)- Restaurant chain Joe’s Crab Shack is following suit of a New York City restaurateur, and experimenting with no tipping.
Joe’s Crab Shack is doing away with the practice at 18 of its national stores, but none in New York at this point.
The thought behind it? It’s no longer the customer’s job to pay a living wage, it’s the restaurant’s.
The locations that have implemented this policy on a trial-run basis are starting off servers at $12 per hour; experienced ones make as much as $17 per hour, said a company spokesperson.
It’s not the customer’s job? Who do they think pays for ALL of it? Is economics really that hard to comprehend?
To some people, yes, it IS that difficult to comprehend.
And from the first when I read the headline, I figured that this “no tipping” is coming from companies and locations (yes, Seattle, I’m looking at YOU!, asshats.) where there was implemented the New Minimum Wages.
FYI, when I was growing up, minimum wage was meant to be a starter wage for newbies, young and inexperienced, still living at home and going to school. It was NEVER meant to be a lifetime living wage to try to raise a family on and buy a house with. Idjits!
We’re living in some strange, psychotic, bizarro world of illusion, smoke, and mirrors – where nothing is what it seems to be and the very foundations are being turned into sand.
But that IS the socialist agenda …
Why we allow it, is another question.
Economics is no longer taught in schools or homes.and now those same young people who can’t find (or never needed to look for) a starter job have become the tender snowflakes we see racking up debt for their parents at our wonderful, liberal colleges.
Funny thing is, when I started working (in the wee hours of the morning – before High School started at 8) for a contractor in the Mess Hall at Ft. Myer, VA, 46 yrs ago for $1.81/hr – I didn’t GAS about the “minimum” wage! Before that, I was making NOTHING!
Joes’ Crab Shack is a motel chain. Look at the vacancy sign. Might want the sheets changed before you bed down.
Motel called Crab Shack?
Now, thas some funny shit …
Don’t fergit to ask for the putty-knife to change ’em with!
It’s the conditioning, good sir.
Every bit as much as young children wasting hours a day walking to a (govt) bus stop, waiting for the (govt) bus, riding on … attending the (govt) school in which they get the socialist indoctrination …
And as individuals, most every one feels helpless to go against the big govt grain..
The smearing and character assassination by the big govt types to break the individual and get it to conform …
Welp, there goes quality of service….
🙂
I don’t know how they stay in business.
Their crab is always free tomorrow.

As for rented beds? I always pack an ultraviolet flashlight with UV glasses. You should too if you’re concerned about, err things you can’t see but may harm you.
Less than $25.00 shipped to your door.
It’s the perfect gift to give an O/C germaphobe in your life.
I was hunting down mold and rat pee when I got them, but I could see someone with O/C being driven up the wall with all it shows.
All good things must end.
I used to be a regular customer in Chesapeake VA. Then one day they did away with the dry rub bbq, flavor. My next order of dungeness came with Heinz 57 squirted on top.
Was the most disgusting thing ever. Not going back.
