Archeologists believe they have found a large statue of the Pharaoh of Moses’ time, Ramses II, in what was once the ancient city of the Egyptian gods, Heliopolis, which is now a slum of Cairo.
They also believe they’ve found a statue of Ramses II’s grandson, Seti II. Both are being recovered and will most likely be put on display at the Grand Egyptian Museum next year.
Ramses II ruled 3,000 years ago and this is where his likeness ended up. Makes me wonder what will become of Lincoln and our other monuments in D.C.
Ramses was also known as Ozymandias which was the basis of a very famous English poem.

My assumption is that head was attached to a large statue, at one time. The body of the statue may have been destroyed by any of the invaders, i.e. Romans,British, French etc.
