The Old New World is a photo-based animation project by Moscow-based digital artist Alexey Zakharov. Using archival photos from Shorpy Sakharov creates an animation that looks like film footage and takes us back to the early 1900s.

This could be material for Brave New World or 1984.
Change history, as needed, with photos and computer magic.
Need new history or explanation? Change the photos and change the history.
Altering photos to change history has gone on for as long there have been photos.
I think the guy who made that video REALLY liked Bioshock.

Sent to my Dad and Mom; he was born in 1930, she in 1936. “Here’s what you missed Dad and Mom!
Sorry, mine.
A long long time ago I found http://www.shorpy.com/ and shared the site info
here. BFH was in heaven. I wish I could animate these photos. What a great idea.
Anyone know what ‘tools’ were used? Adobe? Mac Pro? I have no idea what this would take. But I would like to try it one day.
The LOC and http://www.shorpy.com/ are great sites.
Absolutely stunning!
I have no idea how they do it. I guess I don’t need to. I find it utterly charming.
