The military is set to lift ban on transgender soldiers.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Associated Press has learned that Pentagon leaders are finalizing plans aimed at lifting the ban on transgender individuals serving in the military.
Senior U.S. officials say an announcement is expected this week. They say the military would have six months to determine the impact and work out details, with the presumption that they would end one of the last gender- or sexuality-based barriers to military service.
The officials say that during the transition, transgender individuals would still not be able to join the military. Decisions to force out those already serving would have to be referred to a top Defense Department leader.
Several officials familiar with the planning spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the issue before the details have been worked out.

After having served in the real army some years ago, before it became a social experiment, I used to counsel young men to serve a hitch in the military and then to get married! Now I tell young men to get the milk from the cow for free and then to let the cow serve in the military in their place!

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I was a Marine and have never had occasion to be ashamed of it. My only son went Naval Special Warfare in 2009 with the intention of making a career of it, but is now considering coming home because of the disappointment. I’m sure you are damned proud of all three of them, and justifiably so.

I understand Menderman’s point of view. He is a family man from what I understand, and whatever he feels is right for his family is the right thing to do. That is not to say I don’t appreciate his point of view. I damn sure wish him well.

Anyone who would go through the sexual reassignment process definitely has a screw loose. In addition all the drugs a transgender has to take, the male to female has to “maintain” (ahem) its vagina for the rest of its life, as the body (which knows better) tries to “heal” the wound. We do not need this in our military, and I hope the brass and Defense Dept. fight this tooth and nail. Makes me sick.
