President Donald Trump on Wednesday released seven prisoners with life sentences for marijuana — including some jailed without parole under President-elect Joe Biden’s 1994 crime bill.

Paraplegic Michael Pelletier, 65, and Corvain Cooper, 41, are among the men who received prison commutations from Trump.

Pelletier had a life sentence for smuggling pot from Canada into Maine in the early 2000s. Both jurisdictions later legalized the drug.

  1. IMO, this is a good thing.

Life for Pot never mad any sense to me, and the severity of the sentencing for it just made the trade attract more dangerous kinds of people to pursue it.

  2. Totally agree with these commutations. President* Obiden Bama should be more understanding now that Humper (the smartest drug addict he’s ever known) is making so many public appearances. How long until Hump gets an appointment to the President’s Drug Advisory Council? Why did it take this long for President Trump to commute these prisoners’ sentences?

  3. Jailing people for pot makes no sense. But many of those in prison for pot are actually plea bargains. It’s a lot harder to prove i.e. robbery (your word against the brutha’s ), a lot easier to prove they had pot in their pocket while being an asshole.
