Ian McKellen: Actresses Trading Sex for Roles was ‘Commonplace’ in Industry

Big Hollywood- Sir Ian McKellen weighed in on Hollywood’s widespread sexual misconduct scandal this week, explaining at a recent lecture that some actresses may be at least partially responsible for the current conditions in the entertainment industry because they deliberately trade sex for roles.

The 78-year-old screen veteran broached the subject of Hollywood’s scandal during a recent lecture at the Oxford Union, according to the Daily Mail.

“I hope we’re going through a period that will help to eradicate it altogether,” McKellen said. “But from my own experience, when I was starting acting in the early Sixties, the director of the theatre I was working at showed me some photographs he got from women who were wanting jobs… some of them had at the bottom of their photograph ‘DRR’ — directors’ rights respected. In other words, if you give me a job, you can have sex with me.”

“That was commonplace from people who proposed that they should be a victim. Madness,” the actor added. “People have taken advantage of that and encouraged it and it absolutely will not do.”

During the talk, McKellen reportedly expressed concern about false accusations, though he said he assumed “nothing but good” would come from the current environment in Hollywood.  read more

  1. There are no waitresses in Hollywood – just actors between jobs. An old joke, but one which demonstrates how difficult it is to break into film and television acting.

So how does one break into the film industry with so much competition? Too many aspiring actors are willing to offer sex as an edge over the numerous other competing for roles, and too many people responsible for casting decisions are willing to take these folks up on their offer. At stake is not just a job, but a crack at big money and big fame, and to many people that’s worth selling your soul and body.

Harvey Weinstein was a pig much of the time, but not all of the time. Trading sex for work was, and probably still is much of the Hollywood culture, and no one was unaware of this. Starlet A may have wanted to stick to her morals, but she knew starlets B through Z were willing to do more. There are a lot more willing partipants than victims in this mess.

  2. Every time you see or hear of one of those (actresses) bimbos getting one of their own stupid industry back-patting awards just remember she had something else patted first! Every one of them!

  3. I’m sure it wasn’t just ACTRESSES who parlayed sex into success.
That whole faggot Velvet Mafia thing has been going on for decades and knob-gobblers got ahead (heh heh) using the same forms as the girls.

The hypocrisy of the Satanists is mind-numbing.

    izlamo delenda est …

  4. 💥 MORAL-LESS HOLLYWOOD CAN’T COMPLAIN ABOUT MORALS 💥

🔥 How many times have concerned parents lobbied Hollywood to be more family-oriented? –To deaf ears right?

🔥 Now we have to watch quivering chins, crying on t.v. and silly hashtags from these same hedonists who have now suddenly found a standard, and are shocked it was crossed.

🔥 These culture-smashing WHORES willingly got into the business however they needed to, and I could care-a-less Harvey Weinstein took what they were offering.

    Payback is a bitch.

  5. Man: Will you sleep with me for $1 million?
    Woman: Oh, yes!
Man: Will you sleep with me for $10 dollars?
Woman: $10 dollars! What do you think I am?
Man: We’ve already established that, madam. Now we’re negotiating price.

  6. Ian McKellen probably raped a few underage boys in his time, that pouch-eyed, rump-ranging, fudge-packing, sperm-snorkeling poofter. Waiting for his victims to step forward….

  7. @Wyatt; I agree that it’s likely the majority of the women that offered sex for parts (or gave up sex for parts) knew exactly what they were being offered and agreed to the exchange. I think we need to remember those in the minority that didn’t realize when they accpeted the drinks in the directors room at Cannes or dinner in the LA trendy restaurent for a career discussion with the agent that it would lead to a sexual assault anywhere from the man exposing himself to outright rape. How many of those have come forward vs those that knew what they were getting into and are now crying rape I don’t know but one can only hope that enough Hollywood power palyers get dusted in this mess that the practice is at the very least dramatically curtailed. In the meantime I am enjoying the spectacle of a lot of those liberal, two-faced bastards (and in some cases Bitches) get some justice.

  8. Gandalf may be a dick sucker, but this time he’s right. Many of these Hollywood actresses who are claiming sexual harassment and rape DO bring it on themselves, and have no right to complain. Especially if they are dumb enough to go to a producer’s motel room or bedroom alone.

So, in your estimation, how many women were handed over to full island nunneries before puberty? Only to make a daring escape (probably in a pedal powered aero-plane they built, themselves, after inventing heavier than air flight dynamics). When they landed, gracefully (no crashes allowed, it sullies the story), in Hollywood. To be offered a job in the entertainment industry. Did I fail to mention their secondary, theatre arts major? Sorry. They did that on the island in their spare time. While mastering mechanical science. (Like a boss!) How many, roughly?

(Coz all, ALL, the other girls know the rules of the game. And the game’s the same, regardless of the venue.)

  10. This has been my biggest problem with this #metoo crap.
How many of these women stayed quiet in exchange for money and fame? How many of them used sex to advance themselves?

As much as I dislike Madonna, in an interview she did many years ago she admitted to sleeping her way to the top and said she’d do it again. At least she was honest about it.

Madonna was just a *!* tease. I’m still waiting for her to pay up on her presidential bargain. For a “friend.” No, really. Well, a few “friends,” actually. Oh, and if she ever does agree to pay up, they will accept their “reward.” They will. It’s not an option. It may turn into a scene from Hostel 16, to keep them in position. But they earned it.
