Every year the criteria gets tougher. Right now it’s a drop test from (I think) 12 feet. Next year Micro Stamping the serial number of the gun on the firing pin goes into effect. Smith and Ruger have said Adios. We aren’t really sure who’s coming back, other than the high end 1911. So gun buyers have been buying nothing but pistols this year because it looks like availability is going away. Compounding matters, in California you are allowed to buy one hand gun per month. Not an optimal situation for a California Tactical Weapons manufacturer. However San Bernardino changed all that. Now everyone is after an AR.
California and NY are test beds for screwball laws. Once they work out the marketing and slogans, California legislative lunacy shows up in other parts of the country in a decade or two.
