California’s War on Guns Broadens to a War on Ammunition Beginning January 1, 2018

Breitbart California:  California’s war on guns will soon broaden to a war on ammunition as a ban on the possession of bullets purchased out-of-state takes effect January 1, 2018.

This is one of many steps going into effect which will quickly place ammunition under controls similar to those which Democrat lawmakers have placed on firearms.

According to the Sacramento Bee, it will also be illegal “to transfer or buy ammo” from anyone other than a licensed dealer within the state, beginning January 1. California residents can order ammunition from a catalog as long as they have that ammunition shipped to a licensed dealer for pickup. The dealer will then add a “processing fee” to the cost of the ammunition.

In this scenario, a “processing fee” is just another tax that law-abiding citizens will pay for the bullets they buy.  read more

  1. WHEN will the federal government step up and strike down these affronts to the Constitution every elected official swore to defend? The state legislators in CA and any other state that tread on the second ARE domestic enemies of the Constitution.

  2. While working on a project at home the other day I was listening to, more than watching, Schindler’s List. It made me wonder what the chronology of restrictive gun legislation was in Germany in the years leading up to Hitler’s march across Europe, so I did a (very little) bit of research. But what I found is if you look at what is happening in places like California and other cities and states across America, it is shocking to compare their gun/ammo legislation against Herr Hitler’s. Gun Free Zones, for example, should be illegal under the Constitution, and the NAZI’s had nothing on the U.S. regarding their gun registration/restriction laws. This is one area of civil rights that must be addressed by this administration. There seems to be a sense that we have been placed in a position of begging for crumbs on an issue which is, in many ways, even more important than free speech.

  3. Creeping California Communism.

    A wise woman once said:
The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.
Potentially, a government is the most dangerous threat to man’s rights: it holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force against legally disarmed victims.
We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.

  4. Moved out there in 1978 with a friend. First couple days after driving there, we just sat around mostly, did a little sight seeing in the Concord area, Mt. Diablo couple other attractions. On the weekend, went to San Fran and Fisherman’s wharf. Was on a plane back home the following Tues. Best decision I made in my entire life.

  5. How they gonna know? Is there going to be a special CA stamp with serial number on all bullets that belong in CA?
Or are you required to transport and store in a SEALED CA box?

I’d say they would lose money with people desiring to travel thru the state to another state with ammo, but there’s never a need to pass thru CA, and for what, Oregon or Washington? Belch.

  6. BB, Be careful how you carry your ammo and weapons as you certainly wouldn’t want to have any boating accidents where you might lose everything.

Turned in my license at the height of Clinton/Reno…

All the records in GA now where the Feds WOULD NEVER BUILD A DATABASE OF WHAT WE HAVE…

  7. Not to give them any ideas they haven’t already considered: Require all ammo sold in CA to be manufactured in the State as well, using State origin materials and packaging. Require manufacturers of ammo packaging to be specially licensed and inspected annually, and file detailed reports on each batch of boxes produced, along with the work records of all employees associated with its manufacture. Require all employees of such manufacturers to have background checks updated every two years on file with the State Attorney General.

That ought to stamp out the trade in ammo. It’s for the children.

  8. Have the criminals agreed to this? Cuz, I’m pretty sure they are not going to a licensed dealer for ammo, fill out paperwork, and identify themselves. They didn’t do it for their gun.

FUTURE HEADLINE: “Studies show gang members smuggling in ammo, or purchasing it out of state.”

  9. Wouldn’t it just be easier to make murder illegal?

That would then cover ammo, guns, knives, golf clubs, hammers, chisels, rocks …

Oh … prolly got nothing to do with that … The Jig’s Up! … can’t write that any more, can we? Prolly ray-cyst, or something.

    izlam delenda est …

    > WHEN will the federal government step up and strike down these affronts to the Constitution every elected official swore to defend?

They’ll announce the formation of a committee to study the formation of a committee to address this vital issue, the week after the public display of a significant minority (well under 10%) of the population of a vital profit center (say, California) proves their math — that a bullet really is cheaper than a ballot. Of course, that will cause many (maybe most) of the “true believers” to slip off their shoes, and go back to napping, while they wait to see what New and Improved, Same Old Same Old, they’ll be gifted. The propaganda faces of The Movement will be offered jobs as Top Men (Top Men) with exploratory agencies (“Hey, Jesse! How you bin?”). Those that won’t Go Along To Git Some Stacks will be killed (“Hey Huey? How you bin?”). Then the “true believers” will high five themselves (without putting their shoes back on, of course) and order a stack of the New And Improved, So They’ve Got To Be More Expensive, Ballots. To pay (more) for the opportunity to vote for the names allowed on the New And Improved Ballots by the same people who decided the names allowed on the old and classic ballots. But The Rule of Law (Subject To Change, Without Notice — as was just proven to the “true believers”) will say something different should now be ignored by the people that decide the names allowed on the ballots. And the “true believers” will go back to work. To pay “their” bills. And the Peaceful Transfer of Power, At The Ballot Box, will have proven it’s superiority, again (“Hey, Angela! How you bin?”).

    Bad Brad hardest hit.
    ——————————

Reno is just a couple of hours away. We’ll buy our ammo there.
    ——————-
Or we’ll continue to reload and buy our supplies in Reno. Ways around these assholes here in California.

  12. @Bad_Brad, @Goldenfoxx: Oh, I knew you guys have plenty of workarounds available to you – I was just kinda gently tugging on Brad’s chain. In a friendly sort of way, of course.

    🙂

These idiot legislatures just keep creating more black markets. And in the parts of California you and I live, LEO doesn’t care what your gun looks like or where you got your ammo. Who it will hurt are the retailers like Huntingtons.

  14. Well, maybe this will give the California Agriculture Inspection Station employees something to do instead of telling everyone entering California “have a nice day”. Geeze what a waste of money!

  15. @Bad Brad, yes Huntington’s and some other gun shops around will get hurt. That’s the whole idea behind what TPTB are trying to do. Just like guns, criminals will always be able to get one and use it. I hate the government here in California. We need more Mayor Lees to drop dead.
