Jeff Sessions Orders DOJ to Re-Examine Evidence in Uranium One Investigation

Breitbart;

NBC’s Tom Winter, Pete Williams, and Ken Dilanian report that Attorney General Jeff Sessions has ordered DOJ prosecutors to interview the FBI agents who investigated possible corruption in the Uranium One deal and its players’ links to the Clinton Foundation.

From NBC News:

On the orders of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Justice Department prosecutors have begun asking FBI agents to explain the evidence they found in a now dormant criminal investigation into a controversial uranium deal that critics have linked to Bill and Hillary Clinton, multiple law enforcement officials told NBC News.  see more

SNIP: Well this should be interesting, seeing that the FBI has no loyalty to the current administration.  They have a tough choice to make- Do they want to keep their ‘reputations’ or die some mysterious deaths at the hands of Chairman Maw?

  1. I would hope that Sessions would assign lawyers without any connections to the case, the Clintons or the agents and who are known to actually believe in the rule of law.
The agents are going to be in a tough position and not so much about being loyal to the Clintons but rather whether the DOJ determine they tanked the investigations. They need to hope there is a memo in the file that’s telling them cut off the investigation and move on from Comey. The best thing they can do is to be completely open and stick the knife into Comey.

  2. Just for fun, imagine how Putin or Xi would deal with a politicized FBI openly hostile to their administration, hostile both ideologically and personally. And with top leadership caught conspiring against their election.

The entire top roster of the FBI of the last 10-20 years, plus Holder and Lynch and all their henchlings down to the night janitors, would be arrested, waterboarded and their entire extended circles utterly destroyed. They would sign elaborate confessions with broken hands.
Hundreds would disappear into mass unmarked graves.

  3. Out of “fairness”
(the same kind which has pure radical Leftists “investigating” Trump-Russia)
I would hope only Trump appointees/hires do the digging.

    Fair is faaaaair…right?!

  4. Who woke Sessions?
All along Sessions has responded, I cannot confirm or deny anything, but now…..
Is this a ploy to thwart criticism for his inactivity.

I thought he recused himself from all things to do with Russian collusion. Isn’t this part of Mueller’s investigation?

So, when it is expedient and in his favor, he “can” confirm and/or deny that an investigation is in place? Or is this mincing of words and now saying this is a “review” of investigators findings.

Is this an investigation of Uranium One or not?

  5. Cato, The Mule,: My thoughts exactly, sleeping Jeff must have the lowest productivity of anybody in the entire administration. Ahose years wasted in the Senate, he thinks he is working when he was sitting upon his fa-toss and doing nothing, We need an aggressive attorney general who can kick ass and take names,
and that Congress has diarrhea just thinking about. Creating fear and trembling among career politicians,
the next major accomplishment for President Trump!

  6. The DOJ that Sessions inherited was severely compromised by its two previous AG’s and a politicized FBI. It has taken him some time to determine who he can trust and who is covering up their collective crimes. Who in the hell would want that job. I think that JS has been sorting things out and will eventually get around to the criminal issues of the DOJ, the FBI and previous administrations. If he does there will be major shakeups in government employees and senators alike. It ain’t gonna be pretty, but it is necessary.
Sessions has always been a by the book kind of guy, a straight shooter type. Let’s all hope he stays true to form and upholds the letter of the law.

  7. Sessions may be laying low and giving them enough rope to hang themselves. Don’t jump to conclusions. It’s only been one year and the swamp has been festering for a long, long time. Jumping in like a cowboy, guns blazing, isn’t always the best strategy.

  8. “…was Sessions waiting for anyway, glossy color photos?”

Yes, eight by ten glossy color photographs, with the circles and the arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one, explaining what each one was. 😉

  9. Two scenarios:

    1. After infinite investigations, in 2019 a few small fry at FBI/DoJ are allowed to plea bargain their indictments. A few bureaucrats are allowed to retire with fat pensions a little earlier than they might have otherwise. No big names are affected.
    2. Major indictments and arrests. Hilary is charged with running a Treasonous bribery/espionage/corruption racket through the SoS/Clinton Foundation. Since Obama as POTUS knew and was complicit, and may even have actively partnered along, Obama and his entire circle are also indicted.
Hundreds go to prison for life.

I see 1. as at least remotely possible.

I want 2. instead, but I cannot see it happening under Jeff Sessions and the Obama DoJ/FBI.
I’d love my President to surprise me and prove me wrong.

  10. CoD — Thank you for the link!

What I find most perplexing is that the foxes are still (literally) guarding the hen house. If Sessions can create a firewall between the group who initiated the illegal spying on then-candidate Trump and who are now involved in covering up everything under Mueller, that will help. But the one person who dear Sundance has ID’d as central to it all is one Bill Priestap and he hasn’t yet come up in any of the discovery vis Ohr, Strzok, et al. I hope and pray that all these entanglements will miraculously ravel. One good thing is that in conducting their illegal activities under the cover of Lynch (and obama), the group should be small enough to positively identify — they probably wanted to keep their circle of “need to knows” as tight as possible.

150 FBI personnel assigned to Killery’s email investigation. I don’t care if they have to subpoena every last one of them. Something’s gotta give.

  11. TO AA
    Exactly *my* frustration/exasperation too!

    Haven’t “we” given “them”
enough “rope” and time to hang themselves?!?

Where are OUR “Lois Lerners”? OUR “Eric Holders”?!?
What do we want? EXECUTIONERS! When do we want them? NOW!
