Judge in Tea Party Case Believes IRS Untrustworthy

U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit judge David B. Sentelle stated that the Internal Revenue Service is not to be trusted as the court attempts to decide if the agency is still targeting tea party groups.

The IRS claims that it is bound by law to make available to the public all the information gathered on the Tea Party groups that were targeted, even though the agency was in the wrong for requiring them to provide so much additional information on members and donors.

The agency response has been that the groups put under the additional scrutiny could have always withdrawn their application. The affected groups state that to do so would be to surrender their right to sue the agency for its misdeeds.

Now the groups are calling on the court to prevent the IRS from disclosing all the information for fear of retaliation from the left against there backers (which was the whole point of the IRS requiring disclosure in the first place).
