Man bitten by shark off South Carolina coast while spearfishing, Coast Guard says

A man spearfishing off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina on Thursday was bitten by a shark, according to Coast Guard Sector Charleston.

The 65-year-old victim was bitten Thursday night about 20 miles off the Charleston coast, Petty Officer 3rd Class Vincent Moreno said via local news outlet WCSC.

The man was out at sea on a 28-foot boat. more

  1. Yes, dangling shark food off your spear while swimming in the ocean can lead to getting bit.
    Wasn’t me! Although I did see a couple of dolphins feeding yesterday morning as I was paddleboarding, on the creek by my place.

  2. Agree with the above, can’t hang a bag of chum off your waist and not excpect the sharks to be shy about swinging by to check it out. So, why is this “news?”
