Will Radio Stations Begin To Abandon Glenn Beck Over Overly Strident Views?

I do not have a problem with Glenn supporting Ted Cruz, but I do have a problem when he calls non-supporters ‘idiots,’ which he does quite often.” –MediaConfidential

Steve Adams, general manager of Talk WEEB 990 AM, announced that The Herman Cain Show, will be replacing The Glenn Beck Show, beginning Monday, April 18.

“We feel that Glenn’s show has evolved into a program that is no longer conducive with the WEEB schedule of programs,” Adams said. “We carry a wide variety of programs, including Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Michael Savage, and Alan Colmes. Over the last year, we have received an overwhelming number of complaintsconcerning the content of The Glenn Beck Show.”

Adams said the station has talked to Beck’s vice president of programming about listener’s concerns.

“We told him that Glenn’s show seems to have evolved into a three-hour hate Trump format, and when he isn’t Trump bashing, and demeaning Trump supporters, he’s literally teaching a Bible study course on the air. I enjoy a good Bible study and there is a place for that,” Adams said. “That belongs on a Christian talk station, and not a news talk station.”

Adams pointed out that Rush Limbaugh is a Ted Cruz supporter, just like Beck is, but Limbaugh treats both candidates fairly on his program.

“I think Glenn needs to step back and actually listen to one of his programs. Sometimes it is pure hate being preached in his microphone.”

  1. It’s too bad. Beck did a lot of good for a few years there.

Now, he’s just angry and bitter that most people don’t take him seriously anymore. He did it to himself. He’s a self-destructive personality with a messiah complex.

  2. I had a feeling this was coming. I think he’ll be too blind to realize what he’s doing. He’s been on a decline for a while now. His hatred of Trump only accelerated his decent into obscurity and irrelevance.

  3. I wouldn’t call for the hearse just yet.
Beck has his own fledgling network.
Al Jazera just folded and he will likely pick up some new stations.

He is over the top right now but he feels it is worth it if Cruz gets in the White House.

Where I live they monkey with the talk radio shows too much.
Rush and Hannity are the only true cornerstones.

  4. I can’t bear to listen to Beck anymore. His show truly has become a 3 hour “Bash Trump” fest. I flipped it on today and he was talking about how Trump is not a Christian. Listened 5 minutes and flipped it off. I have the perfect word to describe Beck: Sanctimonious.
I even believe that Beck has actually driven voters AWAY from Ted Cruz. I mean, who wants to associate with a man who calls my 80 year mother a “brown shirt”?

I’m a #neverhillary person, so I’ll vote for Cruz or Trump, but I refuse to listen to the seething hatred that pours out of every pore of Glenn Beck. And I used to be a HUGE Beck fan. Now I find him utterly repulsive.

  5. I stopped listening to him some time ago because he and his partners seem to think that what ever they say is not only interesting to me, but also really funny.

    It’s not.

So now I hear he is all in for Cruz? Don’t mind Cruz…but I would rather have Trump.

Guess I’ve been in a cave someplace for awhile.

    Blah blah blah

  6. I happened to click through the channels years ago and stopped on the scene of a man lying on a couch describing great suffering, such suffering words were inadequate, he moaned and groaned, life was unfair, life treated him badly. It turned out to be Glen Beck complaining about post op hemorrhoid surgery.

I thought if this show is not satire then he is insane. That’s the last time I saw him.

  7. Glenn and his crew are funny. I’ve listened to his show since 2001, but less now. I hate that they’re eating our own. They need to lighten up. Moron trivia and less bashing.

  8. For me, Beck jumped the shark just before he left Fox.
The crying and carrying on made me think he’s quite nuts.
He hasn’t done anything since then to disabuse me of that opinion.

  9. MM, I was talking about established conservative talk radio.
The only two that rule their own destiny are Rush and Hannity.

Mark Levin is a great host but he doesn’t command the audiences that Rush and Hannity do.
Yes, there are a dozen other national syndicated hosts that pick up and drop stations all of the time.

Everyone has taken a hit during this bloody primary.

I like Mark Steyn as much as anyone out there.

  10. I remember back when a station dropped Rush.
IT WAS THE END OF RUSH!
I don’t listen to Beck, I don’t like his style. On the other hand, I suspect he will survive the silly Trumpnado.
The rest of us, that is a tough call.

  11. Conservative media outlets focus on the bottom line. Leftist media outlets are not worried about making a profit, they’re more concerned with leftist ideology. If Beck hurts the bottom line he’ll be replaced for financial reasons. The left kept Colmes, Schultz, Franken, Rhodes, Harlmann, Malloy, Olberman, and Maddow no matter how much it cost in subsidies to keep them on the air. If Beck is hurting the bottom line he’ll be replaced by someone who can make the investors a profit.

  12. I stopped listening when he canceled his “Mormon Trivia” feature on Fridays. Wow, those people he put on the air were stupid. You’d think he’d pick another religion to pick on.

  13. “I think Glenn needs to step back and actually listen to one of his programs. Sometimes it is pure hate being preached in his microphone.” … Quoth Adams.

What kinda ninnies are we breeding that have dumbed down what it means to hate? Take that cop casually pepperspraying the hippies? Look at him – so casual! So suave! He’s not a hater. Just doin’ his job. Naw, haters are like Charlie Manson & crew that would open up a pregnant woman’s womb with a kitchen knife. Haters are like the SPLC. These are the people who cream their jeans to kill their opponents.

Beck may be phony, or excitatble, or the Right’s version of David Letterman. But I don’t think he’s a hater. Not yet anyway. Just a boob.
