Women’s March Protest Causes ‘Burden on Parents’

WFB: A feminist protest is forcing public schools in the Washington, D.C., area to close for a day, placing a “burden on parents.”

Over 300 female teachers asked to take Wednesday off to observe the “Day Without a Woman” protest, which is being organized by leaders of the liberal Women’s March.

Alvin L. Crawley, the superintendent of Alexandria City Public Schools, sent a letter to parents announcing that all schools will be closed on March 8. Crawley insisted the decision to close was not political, but necessary because of the number of teachers who would not be showing up to work.

“It has come to our attention that as of today, more than 300 staff members have requested leave this Wednesday, March 8,” Crawley wrote. “Given the unusual high number of requests, this may be attributed to observance of International Women’s Day. This day has also been deemed A Day Without Women.”

Crawley said all public schools in the district will be closed for students, and Wednesday will be a teacher work day for staff. The day will be treated as a snow day that students do not have to make up because of the lack of weather closings and enough room on the calendar.

The superintendent said the unexpected closing would negatively impact parents.  MORE

  1. “… forcing public schools …”

My ass. The schools are in cahoots with these socialist maggots.
Fire every one of them – then we’d know they were above the fray.

    izlamo delenda est …

  2. “Over 300 female teachers asked to take Wednesday off…”
Well, if they ASKED, just say NO! I had many occasions when more than one employee asked for the same day off and had to say no. If they take the day off without permission, fire them.

  3. “… to encourage women to spend Wednesday … shirking from domestic duties…” So, because the School District gave in to this shit, the women teachers will “march”, and force parents ( men or women) to stay home to take care of their minor age schoolkids. These parents can’t shirk their “domestic duties”. And if it’s mom staying home from work, it will appear that she supports the “Day without women” whether she does or not !!

  4. This does not necessarily mean those women are essential but that perhaps more men need to join the teaching ranks, too. Damn, do we have to do everything? The women in my life know they are essential every day of the year and they are loved, admired, respected, and, in one specific case, lusted after and adored.

  5. Schools are closing for A Day Without Women because so many female teachers are taking the day off, but the superintendant recognizes a hardship because parents will have to find day care. Why? Theoretically mothers will also be participating in the boycott, and thus be able to take care of their own kids because they won’t go to work either, and no day care is necessary.

But who am I kidding. They want to march while wearing pussy hats instead of acting like a parent.

  6. A reminder that the Left has to be eradicated from the school bureaucracy.

Time to smash the NEA union.

Culturally, time to reclaim and transform the teaching profession.
    Replace leftists with retired Vets.
Make teaching public school the new Default career after honorable discharge from the military.
And give any retired Vet major bonus points in hiring.

    Heinlein understood in Starship Troopers”.

  7. Here are the rules for participating in a Day Without Women. No nagging. No kevetching. Don’t ask me for money, and don’t tell me “we need to talk.” I’m having pizza and beer for dinner, and I will watch the game uninterrupted. When the car runs out of gas on the way to the march, you take care of it. I don’t have to pretend to care that your best friend wore the same outfit to the march that you did.

Actually, this may work well enough that we may have to organize one of these once a month or so.

  8. Wymyns aren’t good with math. So that 300 can attend a “day without women”, they push 9000 kids back into the arms of their own mothers, many of whom won’t get paid leave, thus preventing those women from earning a living that day. That will teach those men!

They aren’t good with irony either. Women are supposed to be taking a day away from child care too, so, here you go women. Here are 9000 of your own kids to watch all day.

  9. While pussyhats are on parade in DC, my liberal leftie wife will be caring for her ailing aged mother. She has her priorities in order, and I can fare quite well on my own, thank you.

Ain’t love grand? I’m right, she’s left, how do we get along? We agree to never discuss politics. It works for us.

  10. A day without 300 women teachers. Let make it permanent! Fire them all and replace them with more highly qualified teachers. Do this by eliminating the inane and worthless teacher certification program and replace it with with a program that recruits smart, capable, life experienced people!

  11. How many workers could do this and not get fired? When did teachers become a protected class? These arrogant women don’t care about the women that have to stay at home, take care of their kids on 3/8/17 and miss a day of pay. I would like to see at least one school district stand up and say no to this protest. By the way, why couldn’t they do this on Saturday?

  12. Guess what? No one is irreplacable. After people are inconvenienced, but the world does not end, what do you think the sentiment will be?

They will have proved they are selfish whiners and their contributions are modest.

    Backfire!!!

  13. The school board is in cahoots with the teachers else a hardline would have been taken in order to make sure that parents that can’t afford to take a day (either in pay or in the possibility they’ll lose their jobs) that these teachers were told to show up or be fired. You clear out a corrupt or politicised school board by working hard at replacing the elected trustees with people who actually care about giving a worthwhile education to kids especially those coming from a place like DC that gives them a good chance for success out in the world. The individual PTA’s have to start having the same sort of people serving that aren’t afraid to stand up to both the school’s teachers and the boards when it comes to a good education and preventing political indoctrination.
If any parent loses money or their job on Wednesday because they were forced to miss work to take care of their child they ought to find one of those TV lawyers and launch a lawsuit (maybe a class action) against the teachers individually as well as the school board to recover wages and damages.

  14. Hey, folks, their tactics, and reasoning doesn’t won’t unless they make it inconvenient for people. That is the point of their demonstration. In this case
    they are successful!

  15. My idea of a “day without women” means just that – ladies, go hide somewhere and shut the hell up. If we can still see you or hear you, then it doesn’t really meet the “without” part, now does it? Don’t worry – I have enough clean underwear to make it through tomorrow, and how hard can it be to make a sandwich?

  16. How about we make it a Day Without State and Federal Aid to Schools?
Because, there’s no students that day.
There’s nothing about snow, except the snow-job the school administration is trying to pull.

  17. Requests denied. No shows or call in sick = fired. This is the real world.

Yes, ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on (Ha ha ha)
Hey, ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on

I think I will set up a pussy hat stand.

A pussy-hat stand? Shaped like an upright penis? That would excite them nasty leftist womens:) lol

  19. This is just a way to make it look like more women wanted to participate in this moronic bullshit. Now every woman who has a child in the school will be out. Tell the not no but HELL NO! Fire them if they don’t show.

  20. Day without women? Why it’s caused the earth to spin of its axis and now we’re hurtling toward the sun into a fiery death.

Now. Fix my chicken dinner. Make sure it’s a hen.

  21. I don’t know a single woman participating in this nonsense. We will be out and about tomorrow supporting the male and female small businesses we always support. These people enjoy their work and enjoy making money.

I can’t wait for some of these harridans to have flat tires.

  22. @even steven March 7, 2017 at 12:59 pm

    > trying to turn them into emasculated queers

Now, steven, that’s a bit harsh. They don’t want them to go queer. Queers have no need to beg the matriarchy to be allowed to serve them, worship them, and spend the rest of their lives being made better “men.”

My sophomore year in college I read “Troopers” (62). It is the best book on moral philosophy I’ve ever had. It was the reason I went to kill ChiCom for JFK! To this day I have 3 scars attesting to the fact the Chinamen did not want to die. Bob dedicated the book to 2 Jarhead Gunnies. BTW Bob was a LtCmdr; retired for health reasons.
