Carson: I’m open to being Trump’s VP

TheHill: Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson says he’s willing to consider being Donald Trump’s vice president if the businessman wins the GOP nomination.

“I certainly would sit down and discuss it with him,” he told Fox Business host Neil Cavuto on Tuesday, the day of the New Hampshire primary.

But Carson emphasized that he’d only consider running if he and the nominee had “philosophical alignment.”

“I would have to have major philosophical alignment with whoever it was,” he said. “I would have to have guarantees that I could do some substantial things.”  MORE

  1. Trump’s VP needs to be chosen very, very carefully, in case he gets bored with the Presidency (or decides he’s unappreciated), resigns, and goes back to running his businesses.

    I’m joking, of course.

    I hope.

    🙂

  2. Who desires to be VP ? No one yearns to be VP, it’s the consolation prize.
The position was utilized to “ice” John Adams.

Carson is a mixed bag of capability, intelligence and obliviousness.

  3. Carson’s star is no longer rising in his bid for the nomination. I think he is a good and decent man, the kind we need in government. It is a bit sad for him to be pandering for attention this way.

  4. I am a Cruz guy. If Trump ends up winning he needs to pick a VP candidate that will help him win in the general election. Sadly, he will need to pick a VP the will give him “gravitas.” He will need to throw a bone to the establishment. This will probably piss you guys off but Kasich would be a logical choice. He will bring Ohio with him. Remember, Ohio gave the presidency to Carter and is a “huge” swing state. On the upside Kasich engineered the balanced budger in the 90’s.

  5. Trump isn’t into “identity” anything, so it’s not likely he’ll be taking a lot of advice from the RNC — at least he hasn’t so far. He’s not much of an appeaser, so I don’t think it’s likely he’s going to bow to conventional politics. He likes to be unpredictable so it’s anyone’s guess, but I will. I think he’ll choose someone with name recognition (maybe outside of the political complex) who is hard-charging, solution-driven and with a proven record of success — just like himself. He’d probably do really well with some of the guys from Shark Tank. 😉

  6. Lord nooooooo to both Kasich and Carson-I could see Cruz but I think he’ll go outside the norm-I still like West even though he made a couple questionable votes when he was a Congressman.

Kasich rammed huge Medicare increases onto the taxpayers in Ohio-he’s a class A douch

I think we should let Trump string a few more wins together first though.

  7. MM — Usually the leading candidate doesn’t announce until they are close to the convention or even during the convention in some backroom horse-trading. This should be interesting.

But back to the Shark Tank Veep. I can just see it: The Secretary of Transportation comes up with a bright idea and has to ask the Shark Veep for funding. (Okay, okay, I know that’s not how it works — but it’s fun to think about.)

Shark Veep: How many units (states) have you sold on this idea?

SoT: So far it’s just an idea, we haven’t, um, sold anyone yet. But I’m really passionate about it! I know it can work given enough tax dollars!

Shark Veep: You have a very weak business plan! You don’t even know if it will scale! I’m out!

SoT: (Walking the hallway out of the meeting room) (in a tearful voice): I think the Veep is wrong, I just know if we had enough tax dollars this thing would fly…

  8. AA-sorry but I’m culturally illiterate about TV shows not having cable. From what you wrote, The Shark Tank I’m assuming is some kind of venture capital show?

You’re right about Trump not needing to do this for quite a while-he’s got a long row to hoe.
